Japan May Be Rebounding

Foreign direct investment in Japan tripled last year to 13 billion dollars, as investors sought to take advantage of deregulation and corporate restructurings, as well as a bonanza in mergers and acquisitions.

Separately, Japanese indicators point to a recovery, including increases in Japan's index of leading economic indicators and planned increases in capital spending.
