IPOs Are A Losing Proposition in 2000 By A Factor of 2 to 1
So far in 2000, IPO losers are outpacing gainers by a factor or 2 to 1. 70% of the 439 new offerings are trading below their offering prices.
By comparison, in 1999, only 20% of the 543 IPOs fell below their offering prices by the end of the year.
There is some good news. While IPOs on average are down this year 22%, that is better than the NASDAQ composite.
