Brokerage Firm The Harriman Group and Others Expelled and Fined
The NASD has fined $12.3 million and expelled The Harriman Group. For defrauding investors. The $12.3 million fine represents the illicit profits and excessive, undisclosed underwriting compensation that the firm made in connection with the firm's underwriting certain companies.
These companies underwritten were SIMS Communications, Inc., Natural Health Trends Corp. and International Cutlery Ltd.
Previously, the NASD fined $14.8 million and expelled Brian Scanlon, Mark Hanna, Maidstone Financial Inc. and two of its principals, Marshall Bernstein and Stuart Litman.
